I love the carnival (most of the time)

Saturday we had a babysitter date night so we could go to the Riverfest carnival.
It made me feel like a teenager again...at least for awhile.

The first ride was this one--a hang glider type ride called the Cliff Hanger.
It was a lot of fun and we actually rode it twice.

Then we rode the Tornado.

There was no upside-down or loopdiloops or dangling in the air. But there was lots and lots (and lots) of spinning. This photo was taken at the beginning of the ride. Later we both felt very ill and kind of old.  But, a boy in another pod threw up on his older sister, so maybe we aren't that old.

So, we took a break in the park and just watched the sky for awhile.

After that, we were brave enough for a cold beverage and the ferris wheel.
(No funnel cake on this date.)

There was a great view of the Rock River at the top of the ride.

So, all in all, it was a pretty adventurous date.  But there was no way we were going to ride this one.

Wooo! that last one does look a little scary, especially when you consider the dudes that put them together.

We lived across from the Dubuque Co. fairgrounds when we were kids, and while they were setting up, they weren't too stringent about security and we'd go over and walk around.

The guys slapping together the carnival rides were a sight to behold. It all went very, very fast... and not without colorful cursing.

Just looking a those rides makes me ill. I am so motion sensitive! Nice to have a date though. Your quilting is looking great, by the way!
