Thank you!

I really appreciate the comments I've been getting lately on my Farmer's Wife blocks. We are still working on some family adjustments over here, therefore I'm still plugging away on the traditional blocks. I'm running into the hard ones soon, so I'm starting to slow down.

Because my family life is a little stressed, I'm not feeling chatty. But I still want people to talk to me. Does that make sense? Anyway, your comments brighten my day. Talking about fabrics and block construction comes easily when other words don't.

  2. That makes perfect sense :) Your blocks are lovely as usual, I think I like whirlpool best, I just love the colors. Whirlwind is pretty fantastic too, I think I love that green polka dot. Good luck getting through the harder ones!

  3. More lovely blocks Melinda! I'm glad to see that red fabric in your Windblown Square. Think that one's my fave of this lot :) I'm trying very hard to be patient with my hand bandaged up, but it's sooo frustrating! I have to be content with a bit of block sketching for now. Oh well, I'll have the best planned out blocks ever for this month!
    Thinking of you. x

  9. I think being under pressure is pulling out the extra creativity in you, it must be a release in some way because these blocks are all incredible fabric and print scale combos combined with skillful cutting, totally beautiful. Choppy waters can bring calm when the sea settles x

  10. I feel that way sometimes and just want someone to come hang out with me in my sewing room. No talking necessary, but nice if they want to yammer away while I sew. I generally ply my visitors with food and/or a tasty adult beverage. :)

  14. I'm loving your farmer's wife blocks! I didn't jump on this one because it just seemed too traditional, ok and too much of a commitment. But your blocks rock in a very modern with a 30s edge kind of vibe. I almost think they shouldn't be a quilt. Can you imagine how amazing they'd look all individually framed and mounted in a grid on your wall? So cool!

  15. Not feeling chatty but wanting people to talk to you totally makes sense. My girlfriend and I have a code phrase. If one of us calls the other on way home from work (to pass the time in traffic) and we say, "Talk to me" it's our clue that they just want a funny story or light-hearted conversation. Do not ask about the dad who is losing his hearing, or the boss who won't go out and get new clients, or the kid whose a missionary 6,700 miles away. Just talk about something that the appropriate response is "hmmmm." It would be nice if either of us could remember jokes but, alas, we can't!-

  16. These are all so beautiful! Are you still trying to use a fabric only once? Or did I make that up in my head?:) I know it is going to be so gorgeous because your blocks are so wonderful. I am thinking of you, and things will get better;people are so resourceful, and we learn to adapt in ways that we never thought we could.

  17. Love all of your blocks. They look so precise. But I think the Maple Leaf block is my favourite. So clear cut with the turquoise solid and the delightful wild flower print leaf. Somehow it reminds me of Hawaai! Not Canada!
