Hand stitching away...

hexie project

I feel very close to finishing this hexie wall quilt.  English paper piecing, thread basted, hand quilted and now hand stitching a row of orange hexies as an edge treatment before I flip them to the back of the quilt.  I'm watching seasons one and two of Downton Abbey again to keep my stitching time pleasant.

Are you stitching anything by hand these days?  I'd love to hear about it.

  1. I like the edging you're doing. Looking forward to seeing it when you're done.
All my work is done by hand so, yep. I soent a couple of days over xmas sewing the background of my winterkist quilt together. Have one more evening to do then I'll probably have it finished and can start the applique. But for now it has to wait while I madly knit away on my brother's wedding present.

  3. Oh my word, Melinda, this is GORGEOUS! I've been so in love with hexies lately, and I work on them often in the evenings. I just finished a hexie pillow for my husband -- you can see it at http://www.fabricmutt.blogspot.com/2013/01/valentine.html.

  5. Your hexie project is looking pretty! I was just saying to a friend this morning how much I like doing hand sewing- EPP, hand piecing, appliqué or quilting! They take longer but the effect and satisfaction is worth it!

  6. It looks like it is going to be amazing! I have hexies that I should be working on, but honestly I am anxiously awaiting the needles I ordered so I can start knitting a cowl...and a hat.... and I don't really feel like doing anything else :)

  10. I'm slowly working away on one of these too... It's my "to go" project that is always ready to go on a trip, to the Dr./ER, etc.! Mine was started several years ago. Put away, then dragged out again recently! Yours looks wonderful! Can't wait to see it finished!

  14. amazing! oh to see the finished piece... I want to do a hexi but I admit to being afraid of it. I think I would have to use the plastic templates because of the clutz factor.
