The State of the Hexies

I worked on my blue hexies while on vacation.

And then I ran across this picture from two years ago and I thought it might be useful to see an update of all of my colors of hexies.

My red, pink, purple, orange and yellow hexies went into the hexie quilt. But the cool and neutral ones are still in progress.

Hand stitching can be too slow for blogging sometimes, but doing an update every year or two makes it look like I'm getting somewhere.

Do you have any hand stitching projects that you've been plugging away at for a year or more?  Do you have a harder time sharing them on your blog because they are so slow moving?

  3. ohhh Melinda they are so beautiful!! I've been working on my rose stars for a good while and post about them every now and then. I love that epp isn't a quick process and it just adds to the suspense for people wanting to see it finished ;)

  4. Absolutely! My hexies too. Although I have trouble blogging at all really. Just struggle to find the time. It's something I'd like to work on. I've been posting hexie pics on Flickr and IG about once a month. I love yours. The colours are fabulous and there are so many awesome fabrics and fussy cuts in there!

  5. After your sweet reds hexagon creation made such a big hit at the DCMQG it is a real delight to see how much progress you have achieved in blue, green and neutrals.
Like Lucy above in the comments I am working on my Rose Star epp but I am down to the last bit which isn't very interesting to blog about. The troubles with adding the binding to an unruly edge are slowing me down. The fun of Rose Star was posting each block somewhere when I completed one. I finished about 60 blocks over 9 months which gave me lots of epp to blog or flickr about. I don't think it is epp it's how you use them that makes it move along.

  8. I love them! I plod along with everything and just blog about them when I feel I've made some progress . I find a 'Last time you saw it, it looked like this' photo before I share the newest photo really helps ;o)

  9. I love to see your hexie progress. I laughed so hard about only posting once a year. Now there's an idea I can totally run with... For all of my quilting activities. :)

  10. they look great Melinda! I love seeing the progress too. I have hand stitching projects that are a couple of years old. I don't show them often because, yes, they take some time to make noticeable progress on them.

  11. Nice to see all these, Melinda! Your sense of style is always inspiring! I have way more WiPs than finished ones out there, it seems. I've figured out how to get around that now, though- for the rest of the year I'm only starting pillow sized projects or smaller :)

  12. I love your hexies! I've been working on a medallion quilt that includes lots of embroidery and hand stitching for over a year! I've tried to pick up the pace lately though, haha.
