My Farmer's Wife quilt isn't done yet. That hand quilting only happens when I'm in the mood. And right now I'm in the mood for another sampler quilt.
The Pony Club Sampler has 8" finished blocks and much of the piecing is more complex. I don't think I'll get away with only paper piecing three of these blocks.
I'm doing the whole quilt in Anna Maria Horner fabrics. I love her vibrant color schemes and wild patterns. I usually choose things that are more tame, so this will be a challenge for me. The first block here is Mayflower and has four y-seams. I was pleased with how much easier they were compared to my first attempt at y-seams on the Homemaker block (first 3 attempts not photographed because it looked awful!).
and Old Indian Trail block.
I'd love to have anyone else join in on sewing this sampler in 2014. I'm trying to recruit people to join on Instagram or on Flickr.
Are you working on a sampler of any kind? I'd love to hear about it.
I love those Maria Horner fabrics, I was hoping someone would start a Pony Club group. I like the look of thee blocks more than the FWQ. I'm not quite ready to jump in - I need to get the book, figure out fabrics, and finish one of the two projects I'm working on before I start something new. But I'll be following your progress, and hopefully I'll be able to get mine moving next month.
ReplyDeleteyour blocks are gorgeous! i love AMH fabrics...now i am itching to pick up the book... :)
ReplyDeleteHi! I love your blocks and your Fabrics! That book looks really exciting! x Teje
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks, so bright and colourful. I am still working on my Farmers Wife Sampler. I had a big break from it, but cut one out to sew last night. I'll get there one day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I think at the depot is my favorite of the bunch :) I started the pony club blocks last year and got through the first 18 before I got distracted, so I am hoping to pick it up again soon. I am doing a scrappy version and I have more than enough scraps waiting to turn into something pretty!
ReplyDeleteoooooooh! this is going to be so much fun to watch you make!
ReplyDeletei'm loving the colors/patterns already!

ReplyDeleteI'm on the hunt for the book in the UK, once I have a copy I'm game to join in!
ReplyDeletei just started doing a 6 inch sampler on my own. i never thought i'd be a sampler kind of person when i started quilting and honestly i still don't like how busy a lot of them look. i'm going to have to think very carefully about layout for mine. i really like your depot block.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, these are beautiful! I'm designing a medallion quilt to make out of all AMH and solids and low volume so I'll be watching your progress. Looking forward to meeting you at Mid Atlantic Mod!!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so lovely. Can't wait to see what they will look like all together, so keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI saw some of your blocks on Instagram and you've inspired me to buy the book and start a Pony Club quilt. Thank you!
