I took three weeks off of the
Farmer's Wife Quilt-a-long. I needed a break to work on some other projects. Then, in the last week I have caught up and then some. I'm having a blast coming up with fabric combinations and using some of my favorite fabrics that I've been hoarding for a special occasion. I'm also really enjoying making different blocks every time. Oh! And it turns out that I like figuring out the math in order to rotary cut the pieces. Who knew?
My very favorite block so far is the Swallow block. I love the fabrics, the contrast, the asymmetry. A close second is the Sawtooth block.
Have you fallen under the spell of any of your craft projects? I'd love to hear about it :)
Love your blocks. Your swallow block is my favorite too. Can you tell me what fabric line your used for the background? I am very inspired by your fabric choices....Maybe I will give these a try too?

fabulous!!
ReplyDeletei especially love the chickens and the mermaids. (but they're all lovely, and i know i said this already, but man-oh-man do they all look good together!)
totally agree. Sawtooth is gorgeous - what a pink. And the swallow is beautiful - the intense orange and crisp white and blue are lip smacking. I do find your patchwork so inspiring Melinda! You grow my "really want to make" list every week!
ReplyDeleteLovely blocks! I just got the book but so far I've only been reading the letters and joined the flickr group... not sure if I'm ready to jump in yet. I love the mermaids on your Sawtooth block, but my favorite is the Friendship Star... LOVE that cursive alphabet fabric!
ReplyDeleteI love all your fabric choices! Especially the Friendship Star :) And the Sawtooth too. I love mermaids.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love how these are coming together, awesome fabric choices!!
ReplyDeleteEvery single block is gorgeous! I think those are my favorites, too :)
ReplyDeleteThese are looking *amazing*! I love the way you're combining fabrics, and the blocks all look wonderful together too (I commented on your big group shot in flickr). Yummy! I have to get back on the stick/spade and make some more blocks :)
ReplyDeleteis it reading too much in to say about the sawtooth that it works so well in my mind because of the paradox presented by farmer's wife meets mermaid?
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are lovely! I think my fav of this batch is the snowball. They play so well with each other!
ReplyDeleteLovely fabric choices. :)
Beautiful! I really want to get back to my FW blocks...I had made so many during the first 6 weeks or so, and then dropped off as I got busy with work :( You're inspiring me to out aside some time to return to this project!! Thanks
