We put our Wisconsin house on the market the same week we moved
out. In fact, we didn’t allow it to be
shown until the day after we left. As we
drove through Pennsylvania, we got a call from our realtor that the very first
person that saw the house put an offer on it. The past three weeks have been busy with negotiating and banking and paperwork, but we just closed on that house yesterday.
I have a special relationship with our house after all of the renovation I did on it. A few of the posts about home renovation are here, here and here. I loved our yard and garden, too, (with posts here, here and here). I didn’t blog about the weeks of work I put in at the end. Things just got too busy. Anyway, I’m glad our house will have another family to love it now.

I made this ornament of our Wisconsin home. I think it still needs a little more embroidery before it goes on the tree, but I'm a little too schmoopy to work on it now.
Wishing you all a cozy place to celebrate the holidays with loved ones.
Welcome to your new home, Melinda! Happy Holidays to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI know how hard it is to say goodbye to a house that you put so much work into (we did the same thing 6 years ago). I found that once I established home someplace else, it didn't much matter to me anymore. I hope you are able to feel that way too. Our house also sold to the first person who saw it...I guess people can feel the love! What a relief to have it sold though so you don't need to carry the mortgage. Good luck with the schools. I hope they can help Henry and that your husband settles at his new job.
ReplyDeleteHappy moving into your new home...new environment...good luck to your son in the new school next year. Happy sewing your little house. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...May the coming year bless you and your family with everything that your hearts desire.

I'm so happy that things went so well with the sale of your old house. It's good to leave with happy memories, knowing that there are more good ones to come...
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you, Melinda!
Selling your house that quickly is fantastic! I'll miss being able to see you when I go to Illinois, but am blessed that two random quilters that met on the Internet have gotten to hang out in real life twice! Call me!
ReplyDeleteGreat ornament in tribute to your past home! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great news to have, right before the holidays! Thinking of you and wishing your sweet family a very merry Christmas and happy new year! xx Jennifer
ReplyDeletewow! i'm so glad your house was able to sell so quickly! that must have been a huge relief! your ornament is the perfect tribute to how much love you had for your house.
ReplyDeleteI love the ornament you made of your old house. I am terribly excited to know that you are in Maryland. I live here too. Although I'm in the middle of nowhere. Welcome to Maryland!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the house offer.
ReplyDeleteHope you've settled into your new home and had a good xmas
Just found your blog. Love reading it! I too am living in Maryland....between Baltimore and Frederick. You will love all that there is to do around here. Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls, a short hike up Sugar Loaf Mnt., Harpers Ferry tubing down the river, and out here in Woodbine we have Larriland Farms with a Fall Fest in Oct for the kids and an Alpaca Farm with lots of animals for the kids to interact with. We have a small deli inside a gas station in the town of Lisbon....don't let that fool you. Come on up and have the best Smoked Salmon and Trout around. Pulled Pork, ribs, BBQ Sundae, Salmon BLT. My treat...come out and visit!!
ReplyDeleteThe western part of MD is breath taking....you will love it!
I hope you will see.....home is where you put your head down and have your loved ones with you.
Keep up the great blog....I got great ideas from it!
Kind Regards
Susan
