Your thoughts?

I need to extend the deadline for last post's guessing game/scrap pack giveaway.  You now have until Wednesday at 5pm EST.  I was cleaning my sewing studio all day and did not finish the paper pieced block previously mentioned.  I'm sure you all understand how that goes...

But, since you did stop by, I can show you part of the quilt top I finished about a week ago.

New Quilt Top

It is now ironed and awaiting batting and a quilting idea.  I think it would look best with hand quilting but I'm not sure if I want to sign myself up for that.  What do you think?

Pretty quilt top!! I love the way you combine fabrics. I hate to tell you this but I would agree that from this peek the quilt has a vintage vibe and hand quilting would look awesome! I know exactly what you mean, the cleaning takes as long as the making.

It's a lovely quilt and will look good not matter how you quilt it :)

I'm digging orange peels right now.

Really nice - love the rich reds. If you do hand quilt it, I would just do straight lines. What about tying it?

I've been waiting to see this one ever since you posted the fabric stack a few months ago. It turned out to be so soothing looking -- it makes me want to try something in a similar palette. Well done.

It would look lovely with hand quilting! It would also look lovely with machine quilting, though!

Hand quilting would be fabulous, but if you can't be bothered (and I normally can't) I think some in the ditch or 1/4" from the ditch straight line quilting would be lovely. I would keep it fairly simple, whichever you do - I think there is a temptation with simpler quilts to do complex quilting, and I don't think it always works as well as the simpler stuff can. Gosh, I ramble on!

you know, quilting isn't exactly my forte... so i'll just put my vote in the unhelpful, "what ever you chose will look fabulous" camp!

How big it is would be the clue on how to quilt this lovely color story. If it is large go with machine quilting I would use a 45ยบ diagonal line quilting to contrast and complement the grid.

So simple but I love diagonal quilting with simple squares.

I like the idea of tying it too. Hand quilting is too laborious for me but if I had the time I might.

I made a little test piece prior to quilting my Madrona Road quilt that's a simple patchwork like this, and I quilted it 1/4" on each side of the seams and quite liked the result. I'll try to post on flickr later, but I'm sure you've seen some like that.
