Anyway, I was thinking about that as I flitted between sewing projects today. I was trying to decide what I should work on next. I could continue my progress on my rose star blocks.
Or I could finish Charise's Paris-themed bee block for the Ringo Pie Bee (those darned y-seams have me procrastinating).
Or I could decide what solid to use to put a border on this long-overdue quilt top. (You'd think I could be bothered to iron this quilt top before taking a picture and sharing it here, but no.)
Or I could work on piecing some blocks for my husband's quilt. (It sure was fun to come up with the new fabric combinations.)
Well, this butterfly will settle on something soon. Maybe some more hand piecing tonight and continue to procrastinate on the bee block? Hmmm...

Most recently I decided to work on spiderwebs since I am using my featherweight & I could not guarantee that I would finish anything else & did not want to have tears over any discrepancies in my 1/4 inch between the two sewing machines. (That isn't a worry with foundation piecing.)
Otherwise, I am like a dandelion - I float from one project to another, just like dandelion fluff on the wind.
Decide??? I honestly don't think I make a conscious decision...I 'flit' too! You have such wonderful things on the go, I don't what I'd jump to next either! Love the Rose Star blocks and your paper pieced one!
I always have many ideas I am working on at the same time. I think it is something about the creative mind that does that. Your Cocorico Bee block is lovely! The curtains at the window are fabulous!!
I usually keep a few things on the go - sometimes I get stuck because I'm at a part that I can't do while the kids are awake and I have other things to do while they're sleeping. Sometimes I just get bored or stuck and set things aside. Mostly I just do what seems most important or urgent or timely. Or sometimes I just do what makes me happy that day.
Real coherent answer, eh? Anyhoo, I love that bee block, and congrats on the pretend play. It just gets more and more fun and absurd as time goes on.
Congrats on the pretend play with Henry! I was so excited when Zeb started using imaginative play, about six months ago now.
As for how I decide what to do next... I just work on whatever project calls to me, which is why I have multiple projects going.

I used to be a one project at a time kind of girl, but not lately. It seems like I have several things going all the time now. Most of my making is driven by deadlines, but I try to have some in there for fun. My hexagons are probably my favorite part -- I love relaxing with them in the evenings after the kids are in bed. :)

Your Rose Star blocks are absolutely fabulous, I'm going to have to give in and make some...at some point!
The choices are many, even without kids to occupy me, it is hard to choose one project over another but in the end it's always the one I am feeling the most passionate about on a given day.
Your Rose Star blocks are looking beautiful, when I was making mine I couldn't think about anything else. Rose Star paper piecing was like a drug, the satisfaction of choosing then assembling them was completely consuming. I admire your picture blocks and hate Y seams. I have only tried that once with no help I just bungled my way through one and it isn't something I am dying to try again. I like the blocks for your husband's quilt and the colors and patterns are perfectly masculine. Thanks for sharing so many of your projects underway. It's fun to tour your studio virtually.
What is the feather fabric called? I keep seeing it on different blogs and I love it!
it looks like the Paris block might be the project you could finish the fastest so start there so you can feel like you have accomplished something. Then choose the border fabric. By that time you will be ready for a break so you could sit down, stitch some rose stars and dream about the next fabric combo for your husbands quilt. Beautiful projects!!!

I love the idea of playing cocoons! My son told me they read that book at preschool this week, so we might play this game on the weekend. You have some lovely projects to choose from. You know what I'd do? Start something new! I'm like that, can't concentrate on one thing for too long.
They are all just lovely. I especially love the colors you chose for your husband. I have the EPP bug this week; I'm working on something that's been in progress for at least 6 months and I think it's going to get finished this go-around! The motion of hand stitching just feels so right right now.
i don't know how you ever decide what to work on - everything you make is just so pretty. i'd spent all my time flitting around like a butterfly!
